Traffic: Don't Under Estimate It's Importance

How many times have you bought a product that promises you that you will earn thousands of dollars if you use their system to build sites only to find that the manual contains not one word about generating traffic? You buy the product and build the site and it just sits there doing nothing.

When I was starting out I spent lots of money on site building tools and keyword tools and nothing on learning how to generate traffic. I now know how stupid that was. The tools might have been the best in the world but without traffic the end results were worthless.

If you go to Google or yahoo and look at the bottom of the search listings you will find some really great looking sites. But languishing down there they don't earn any money or get visitors so there was no point in building them. If you go to any of the forums where you can buy sites you'll see the most popular questions are how much money does it earn? and what is the traffic? You can make any site with good quality traffic earn money. So always look for site with traffic rather than income.

If you concentrate on learning how to generate traffic to your sites you'll be able to launch sites in the certain knowledge of being able to make them profitable. I run a membership site and was creating some traffic videos only yesterday. I tried something I'd never done before and discovered that it got my site indexed in Google in 18 hours.

This was something new that I hadn't used before, needless to say I was pretty impressed. I used it on another site 3 hours ago and guess what? It's now showing in Google. That's 3 hours from creating an entry to it appearing in Google. I didn't even know that updated their database that often!

The method I used has not been mentioned in any of the traffic generation products I've read. However this is not too surprising as traffic generation is constantly evolving. Google change their algorithms and sites fall out of favor or become favored. It was only a few months ago that Squidoo was the best place to start your link building. Now it's fallen out of favor.

I constantly monitor Google to see which sites are ranking well. I find an Internet marketing product and search for it in Google's index. I'll then take note of what sites are showing links and test them for myself. The reason I choose Internet marketing niches is that Internet marketers are usually at the forefront of any developments in ranking strategies.

By constantly monitoring whats working and what isn't you'll soon build up a list of good sites. When it comes to launch a site use these sites to generate traffic and to get your site ranking high for your chosen keywords.
