Hair Loss has many causes a major one is because of genetic reasons, which are generally shared by both men and women. Getting hair loss for the first time is quiet upsetting even to the most robust of personalities. Because of the way genetics work it is usually difficult and expensive to diagnose properly.

Hair follicle damage is another universal cause that can occur because of many lifestyle and environmental factors. While some of the follicle damage are not possible to fix, there are some that can be quickly addressed. As with many things there are often some problems that can be addressed by adjustments to hairstyling and care techniques.

How do hair follicles get damaged?

When men and women lose hair, it is sometimes caused by damage to the follicle. Hair follicle damage can occur as a result of the overuse of chemicals, heat damage, and follicular breakage. These causes of Hair loss are ones that are societal and can be changed to prevent further Hair loss.

Using chemicals on the hair, such as gels, mousses and hair sprays was once only a female practice. Today both men and women use hair chemicals on hair for daily styling. These chemicals become one of the causes of Hair loss when used to an extent that hair follicle damage occurs. Hair follicles can be rendered unable to produce new hair or unable to produce hair at all, if the chemicals burn, damage or kill the hair follicle.

Heat can be another one of the causes of Hair loss for both men and women. Using a hair dryer on the high heat setting can easily damage the hair follicle to the point where it no longer grows hair at a normal rate. Over time, the damaged follicle may die, leading the beginning or ongoing Hair loss.

Excessive hair brushing has also been found to cause hair damage. This often causes hair to be pulled and ripped during the act. Hair brushing sometime causes quiet devastating effects on ones hair and could cause a reduction in new hair growth. Actually hair damage can happen with both wet and dry hair brushing with hair tangles and knots being blamed.

While in many circumstance men and women have different kinds of hair loss problems, universal hair loss is a problem that sometimes crosses the gender barrier. If you are feeling that this may be a problem then now is the time to act. Firstly reduce the amount of chemicals you use this is a great way to start your step to healthier hair. Secondly when drying your hair with a blowing device have it on the lowest setting. Finally when brushing knots take your time and don't rush be kind to your hair. Remember the same with many lifestyle issues the best way is to practice prevention because this is 10 easier than finding a cure.
