Household chores can be very boring and time consuming and not many people look forward to them. Needless to say, cleaning your blinds happens to fall into that category and it is important to clean them or the little dust bunnies will accumulate. Cleaning your blinds can be made easier with the following tips so that you don't feel like you want to put it off any longer. A vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment is an easy way to clean your blinds. The dust and dirt is gone quickly and the brush eliminates any of the dust flying around. Who would have ever considered using socks? Put your hand in the sock as if it were a hand puppet and make sure it is wet, then, put the dry sock on your other hand. Wipe the blinds with the wet sock and dry the blinds with the dry sock. You will be done in no time at all. A miniature paintbrush can be very effective in cleaning your window blinds, because the small size fits easily between the slats and one swipe cleans the entire surface of the slat. Soaking your blinds can also clean them without too much fuss, but you must take them down from the window for this method. Fill the sink with hot soapy water that has a splash of vinegar added, then put the blinds in the sink with the slats opened. Leave them soaking for one half to one hour and then thoroughly rinse them off and let them air dry before you put them back up. The material of your window blinds will determine whether this method can be used, because wood and cloth blinds should not be immersed in water, but aluminums or vinyl blinds work perfectly with this method. As with everything else, you can buy attachments to fit your hand and fingers to help you clean your blinds. You may find that some attachments work better then others or that you may feel you have wasted your money on something that didn't work the way it was meant to. The best way to keep your blinds clean and looking great all the time is by cleaning them frequently so that the dust and dirt does not accumulate. For wood blinds use a soft cloth and wipe the slats with a spray. Pledge is an example of a spray that helps to eliminate dust and dirt while nourishing the wood too. This process leaves the wood shining and looking new and reduces the possibility of cracks at the same time. Whatever type of material your blinds are made of regular cleaning will keep them looking like brand new.
