Healthy Eating Advice

If you ask any nutrition expert whats the secret to healthy eating they will undoubtedly tell you that moderation, variety and a good balance are the most important aspect of healthy eating. By adopting these 3 principles you will ensure that your diet is healthy and beneficial to you. We have listed a few more helpful tips below.

1. You need to eat a wide variety of nutrients to keep healthy. When buying food check out the packaging and see how many nutrients and vitamins each item contains. Your body requires over 40 of these nutrients to remain healthy by getting a regular supply you will be going a long way towards keeping your body healthy.

2. Many Americans don't eat enough fruit vegetables and whole grains. These are some of the most important foods that you can give your body. Try to find nice recipes that include these and regularly add them to your diets.

3. Eat moderate portions. Keep them to a reasonable size as it is easier to eat the foods you want and thus stay healthy.

4. Eat your meals regularly. Don't skip breakfast and keep to set mealtimes. Try to add a light snack between meals. This will ensure that you keep hunger at bay. When you are hungry you start to crave sugar and snacks full of fatty substances.

5. Don't cut out your favorite foods completely use them as a reward. If you've managed to eat fruit everyday for a week then treat yourself to your favorite food. But remember moderation is the key forget those supersize meals!

6. You can easily reduce the amount of fat you consume by switching to lean cuts of meat and skimmed or low fat dairy products.

However if you happen to love fried chicken you do not need to give it up you just eat it less often. When eating out share your food with a friend or ask for a take home bag or even better get a smaller portion than you would normally have.

Changing to a healthy diet need not be a difficult or stressful experience. Don't try to change over all at once. Small changes over a period of time will prove to be much easier to achieve than trying to change all at once. Just remember that your aim is to lead a more healthier life and you will soon be on your way to better health.
