I was very pleasantly surprised when I went on the net recently to find some good warm weather drinks to serve at an upcoming event. In just 45 minutes I found hundreds of great sounding drinks, many I'd never heard of before. After finding the recipes online, I went shopping, and mixed and tasted (but did not fully consume) about 15 drinks at home over a period of three or four evenings. Then I tried a few more in a local hotel bar. My five favorites follow...I highly recommend them all. I found the Rasmopolitan at http://www.liclubs.com. It's a combination of 1 ounce of Stoli, a half ounce of Triple Sec, a half ounce of lime juice, and enough cranberry juice to fill a tall glass. Just mix it, strain it if you wish, and garnish with a lime wedge. A drink called Sex on the Beach also comes from liclubs.com (a sight I wound up bookmarking). By putting together a half ounce of peach schnapps, a half ounce of vodka, and an ounce each of pineapple juice and cranberry juice you get a very refreshing drink. I shook mine over ice and fell in love after the first sip. Thanks to dreamsmixer.com for the Creamy Root Beer. Simply pour 2 ounces of Dr. Mcgillicuddy's Vanilla Schnapps into a frozen mug filled with ice, fill nearly to the top with root beer, and top off with a spoonful of cream. Have you figured out yet that I not exactly a two fisted drinker? If so, you won't be shocked that my next choice, courtesy of frontgate.com, is a Strawberry Colada. To make one, just put together 1-1/4 ounce of (light) rum, 1/4 ounce of pineapple juice, and an ounce each of pina colada mix and strawberry daiquiri mix. Blend it and garnish with a cherry and an orange slice. It will taste as good as it looks. No party or event is complete without a great alcohol free alternative, and here it is, courtesy of recipelink.com. Freeze a bowl, a 16 ounce glass, and a Butterfinger candy bar for at least 30 minutes (longer is probably better). When ready to serve, crush the candy bar into pieces and put it aside...you'll use 2/3 of it in a minute. Mix two cups of vanilla ice cream and 1/4 cup of milk in the frozen bowl until it is creamy and stir in the Butterfinger pieces. Pour the mixture into the frozen glass and serve with a spoon. Try these five wonderful drinks...you won't be disappointed. And, if you've got a few minutes, you can find many more terrific drink recipes on the net.
