So you have had that life changing proposal made to you, now it is time to decide on what look you want for your wedding day. What style are you looking for; should you have sleeves, a full length or half length dress, a simple or fancy design. There are so many decisions to make but one thing is for sure, you want the best for you.

As soon as the planning begins for the big day, choosing your wedding dress becomes somewhat of an urgency for most brides, who do not want to wait until the last minute. While dealing with wedding stress and preparations, be sure to allow yourself plenty of time to try on different styles and find the one who says "you".

If you have decided on a theme for your wedding, this will be an important factor in choosing the perfect wedding dress. Will you be having a beach wedding? If this is the case, you will be looking for a style that is not too hot and heavy. Will your wedding be a fairytale style wedding? If so, you will want lots of lace and silk. When looking at wedding dresses, you will want to try on many different types of dress. Do not just stand there in them when trying them on. Stroll around to see how comfortable they feel when you move. Try different positions of your ceremony in your dress to make sure that you are going to feel comfortable throughout the whole ceremony.

How good the dress looks is only 50% of choosing the dress. The other 50% is whether you look good in the dress. You will not be able to look good if your dress is scratchy or if it is a bit tight and you are afraid you might split a seam.

A big mistake when selecting a wedding dress is getting the size right. If you have every intention of slimming before your wedding, make sure that you get the wedding dress for the size you are now and not what you think you will be on the wedding day. It is much easier to get your dress adjusted by taking it in rather than having to try to add material if the slimming did not have the effect you were after.

Although a wedding can be an expensive affair, do not skimp when selecting your wedding dress. Have family members chip in with making flowers. Get family or friends to take the wedding photos and maybe even get a family member to make your wedding cake. The dress will be the most important part of your day as it will be seen throughout the whole day. If you cannot afford wedding boutique prices, check out wedding consignment shops for nearly new dresses at much cheaper prices. These will look just as good.

Whatever style, color or price range you decide on when choosing your wedding dress, remember that you are still "You" and that is who your fianc fell in love with, not your dress, which will only add to the ambiance of your day.

Having received your wedding dress, be careful to keep it hanging in the bag it came in. Do not let too many people see it before your wedding day so it can add to the ambiance of you walking down the aisle. Although many people are not superstitious, you should still make sure that you try to avoid your fianc seeing the dress too as it will add to his magic day also seeing you for the first time in it.
