When selling information products on the Internet, you want to make sure you're focusing on a niche that will make money for you in the short and long-term. A niche is your target audience. Some target markets, won't be as financially attractive as others. You need to look at your niche market to see if they're likely to spend money on the solutions they're seeking. As an example, golfers have to have spare cash because the game of golf in itself is expensive. They're also fanatical about the game and would do anything to improve their score or beat their friends on the golf course. Single moms on a budget, as a niche target market, may not be able to pay a high price for information showing them how to get organized. However targeting this same niche , you may find some are willing to invest a reasonable amount in something that shows them how to make more money using their home computer. To find these target niche markets you could start with online groups and forums which You can find by checking the search engines. When you find them go and see what kind of groups have the most activity. Groups for men such as AskMen might give you insight into what kind of products they might need and that will then help you generate a good living. You're not just looking for a broad group of people to cater to - you're looking for those with a lot of problems. When you start creating your information products, you'll want to build an empire of products that all focus on the same niche, allowing you to market to existing, loyal customers who buy from you time and time again. Sometimes, you'll find one large niche and then realize you need to build your information product line around a more targeted, narrow niche of people. For instance, parents in general have many problems you could address, such as raising smart kids, dealing with discipline, and saving money. But you could create an even tighter niche by focussing on single parents or parents bringing up children with health problems. Remember an information product provides a solution, so it needs to be presented as something that will help solve problems.
