Chicago: A City Of Diversity & Great Attractions

A visit to Chicago leaves you spellbound. Like all other metropolitan cities of North America such as Los Angeles and New York, Chicago also has a truly cosmopolitan nature. This is evident by the number of people from all over the world who have made this lovely city their home.

Chicago is certainly a must visit for all tourists no matter what their interest. Its cosmopolitan nature has given Chicago a rich culture which has amalgamated in itself all that it encountered. You can see this cultural blend in it arts, music and the famous international cuisine. Jazz and blues doesn't sound better in any other part of America than Chicago. People from all over the world can find something or the other to suite their palate.

There are many attractions in Chicago that you won't want to miss. One of these attractions is the Art Institute of Chicago. You'll be able to spend a few hours looking at art and sculpture from the last 5000 years. The huge collection of postimpressionist and impressionist paintings are a must while you're at the museum. Don't forget to get your picture taken beside the lions outside the museum.

A good way to truly experience the lifestyle of any city is to visit its neighborhood. One such area is Lincoln Park, which is famous for its Biograph Theater, site of the John Dillinger shootout by FBI in 1934. This neighborhood never sleeps and reflects the spirit of Chicago. At all times you can find people strolling, walking, running, cycling or even rollerblading among the hustle and bustle of a busy city life.

Other attractions in this neighborhood include the Lincoln Zoo, which is free to the public. Visit with the gorillas and chimpanzees before checking out the more uncommon animals, such as the Galapagos turtle and poisonous spiders from around the world. A big hit at this zoo is when the chimpanzees come out to draw for you. Some of the art created by the chimpanzees has been sold around the world.

After visiting Lincoln Park you can take a walk along the Magnificent Mile, which is an avenue that leads from Lincoln Park all the way to the Chicago River. This stretch of road is great for those shopping enthusiasts who love a bargain or a boutique. The Tribune Tower is found along the Magnificent Mile and warrants a look. The tower was built in 1925 and its gothic beauty is still astounding even today. The base of the Tribune is embedded with rocks obtained by newspaper reporters from around the world.

The highlight of a trip to Chicago for your children may be a visit to the Shedd Aquarium. The Shedd Aquarium, built in 1929, contains one of the world's largest collections of marine and aquatic animals. The huge central tank contains 500 tropical fish, everything from moray eel to the quiet nurse shark. In addition, you'll see sea otters, penguins, dolphins, beluga whales, and harbor seals.

If you are in America can baseball be far behind. Chicago has to its name one of the most popular baseball fields of the century, the Wrigley field. Any baseball fan would have heard of it and would definitely want a picture of it. A walk around the field is an experience to cherish.

No matter what time of the year that you visit Chicago you'll always be able to find something to do. The winter months can be a bit cold and snowy but that's what gives Chicago its charm and reputation.
