By studying business in college you could be following in the footsteps of Donald Trump. If you’re already reading the stock pages you know a good deal when you see one. You’ll also know that anyone studying business in college would be foolish to go to school without applying for business scholarships. When the business world spreads it wealth it often includes scholarship money for college students. Some business scholarships are given out to specific majors, like students focusing on accounting or marketing. Other awards are available to anyone studying business administration or general business. Business scholarships can be awarded by your college during any year of school. Some schools may not allow students to be full-fledged members of the college of business until their sophomore or junior years, they may still award money to freshmen or sophomores. Many companies offer special scholarships for direct family members of employees. Most, though, support students by offering business scholarships through a school or foundation. These scholarships are often used as promotional tools by the company. In truth, they are recruiting tools. Companies need well-qualified employees every year. The scholarships they offer to business majors are their way of watering next year’s crop. Many of the world’s top business men and women continue hold not just a bachelor’s degree in business administration, but also a Master of Business Administration. Depending on the type, scholarships for business majors can be used in a variety of ways. Some are for tuition only while others offer more flexibility, allowing students to spend the money at their discretion on essentials like books or room fees. Scholarship money can sometimes be used for purchasing a computer. In fact, many business programs now require that students own a laptop so they can stay connected. Because many businesses require additional training this can mean more expenses for the business student. Even if you didn’t earn a scholarship as an undergraduate student you may be able to obtain business scholarship money specifically for MBA students.
