As You Age, So Do The Needs of Your Skin

Name the biggest organ in your body. If you are like a majority of people, you did not select the skin. The skin is indeed an organ and your largest one. As will all critical body parts, it requires different types of care as the years pass.

Nature comes up with some tremondous things and skin is at the top of the list. When you really think about it, it is simply shocking. Skin is your barrier to the world. It allows you to sweat out bad things, but lets nothing unwanted in.

Skin goes through an aging process much like the body and person as a whole. To verify this, you need just look at the skin of a baby versus a grandfather. The ravages of time, pollution, food intake and the sun can be seen in the stark contrast.

I am sure you are hardly surpised to learn that skin ages over time. It is obvious, right? If so, why do you use the same skin treatment techniques you always have? You shouldn't. As we age, our approaches to skin care should as well.

Let's start at the very beginning. A baby is new to the world and so is its skin. Undamaged, soft, flexible, it is a virgin surface that hasn't been impacted by the wind, pollution and sun exposure. Clean with mild soap and stay out of the sun.

If you don't believe your skin is tough, consider our next phase of life. Being a kid is all about investigating your environment and lots of boo boos! Skin should be washed every day and sunscreen should be used before going outside.

Being a teen can be really tough and your skin doesn't exactly help. Your body starts taking leaps in maturity and your skin can be a nightmare with pimples and such. Washing twice a day helps. Moisturizers are a bad idea, but Retin-A is not.

The roaring twenties are some of the best years for many people. This can also be an optimal time for your skin. Washing twice a day is still the best routine, but you may find once is sufficient as you head towards your late twenties.

You've moved into your thirties, which means one thing. Moisturizers. It is tiime to become familiar with them because you should use them each and every day. Your skin is starting to show wear and tear. Moisturizers help minimize it.

Your forties can be a tough time from a skin perspective. You will notice a significant drop off in the elasticity and sheen of your skin. Moisturizers should remain a critical part of your life and anti-aging products may be wise.

Your skin has done a lot of work for you, now you need to take care of it. Once you hit your 50s, the vibrant elements of your skin are long gone. Drink lots of water, use moisturizers and watch your skin closely.

Our bodies are absolutely amazing and no more so than our skin. Can you think anything else in your life that lasts for 50, 60, 70, 80 years or more being exposed to the elements each day? Probably not. Keep it in good condition!
