We all know that toxins are becoming harder to avoid all the time. It is almost impossible to avoid adding dangerous chemicals to our bodies at an ever increasing rate as we are exposed to them in the air we breath, food we eat and water we drink. The key is to find an effective way to get rid of the toxins as fast as they are added. Luckily there are several effective options to choose from. Butylparaben, Benzene, Bentonite, BHA, BHT, Bronopol and Benzoic Acid may not be in our everyday vocabulary but they are in our everyday environment. We are in daily contact with these chemicals and so many more. The bad news is that there are 25 other letters in the alphabet and just as many chemicals associated with each one. The good news is that our bodies do a pretty good job of getting rid of toxins naturally. Our kidneys, livers and excretory systems (including sweating) effectively filter out most of the unhealthy chemicals we take in. It becomes a problem when these natural detoxification systems are overloaded and are not effective enough. Respiratory, digestive and other serious health problems can result. There are several methods of detoxification that can help our natural systems cope including: 1-Changes in the foods we eat 2-Using various Herbal body wraps 3-Taking Special Herbal supplements 4-Regimented Cleansing Plans 5-Using a Sauna on a regular basis 1-Often people will change their diets either temporarily or for extended periods of time in an attempt to cleanse their systems. Many of the toxins we accumulate come from the food we eat. Processed foods are famous for their toxic content but even more natural foods like fruits and vegetables contain pesticides, herbicides and artificial hormones among other things. Most of these detox diets are made up of fasting, drinking loads of clear fluids like water and eating mainly vegetables. Your system will get flushed out on a diet like this but they should be used for only limited time periods. Many of the necessary minerals, vitamins and nutrients for a healthy diet are missing with a detox diet and need to be replaced. 2-Clay, salts, water and other ingredients are often used to produce what is known as a body wrap designed for detoxification. Toxins are stored within the cells of the body. The idea is that the salts in a body wrap tend to draw water from the skin and in the process draw out dissolved poisons. Picture yourself lying on a table covered for several hours with a thick clay based concoction and you have the basis for a body wrap. Later in this article I will describe an easier and more practical way to achieve the same results. It is important to replace the lost liquids after a body wrap. Drinking lots of pure water is a great way to do this. In fact drinking plenty of water is often reported to be one of the healthiest things you can do for yourself in general. 3-Herbal supplements, normally in the form of pills, can also be used to cleanse your body. Increasing the level of antioxidants, certain vitamins and minerals can have an effect on the way your body functions. This change can include the more efficient excretion of toxins. It becomes a fairly tricky business when you alter the basic chemistry of your body so before embarking on a journey of this nature be sure to have a complete understanding of the entire process. Your doctor, not just the Internet, should have a major role in whatever plan of action you choose. 4-Health spas are another option that is popular. There is a huge diversity when it comes to spas but those that specialize in detoxification often involve a routine of enemas, cleansing drinks and other liquid supplements. The routine is repeated daily for a period of time, often weeks or more. These live in kind of situations require dedication and commitment on the part of the participant. Many of these spas are reputable and have a good track record. As with so many things in life it requires your due diligence to find a spa that is effective, affordable and fits your situation. 5-My favorite and arguably the easiest (my kind of plan) is the use of a sauna for detoxification. The main way toxins are eliminated is through the excretory system. Elimination of solids and liquid urine are the paths that come to mind immediately. The truth is, however, that the process of sweating also eliminates surprisingly large quantities of fluids. Excessive sweating, as in a sauna, dramatically increases the rate that toxins are included with the sweat. This happens because many of the toxins are found within the cellular fluid. The first fluids removed in sweat is the fluids found surrounding the cells. As that non-cellular fluid is reduced it is replaced with inner-cellular fluids. These are the fluids with highly concentrated amounts of toxins. When this fluid is "sweated out" so are the toxins. All of these body cleansing detoxification methods work and have their own advantages and disadvantages. The one that is best is, as they say "the one that you will actually use". Today's home sauna options offer such surprisingly low cost and ease of operation that it is no wonder they are becoming the method of choice for so many families. This method is much less harsh and more enjoyable than any of the others. In fact I don't think it would be an exaggeration to say that it is the only body cleansing mentioned that anyone would do even if it didn't have the detoxification benefits.
