The Ingredients to Success Ever tried one of those “Lose 28 lbs in 3 minutes” diets or “Make $5,467.99 in one hour from now” business opportunities There is always an appeal to a quick fix and getting results right now, and certainly it appears that our culture in the modern world has changed to an instant gratification and disposable society. Even just yesterday I tossed out some socks that had a hole in the big toe, and as I tossed them into the rubbish bin I actually thought to myself that, not too long ago, these would have been mended and possibly they would have lasted a couple more years. Almost any item used in daily life is now a replaceable item. Even cars seem to be disposable after what appears to be minor damage. The value of a "pre-loved" car is diminished to a minimal amount after it is over 5 years old, as I experienced when swapping my 5 year old Honda Prelude for a more “family” orientated car. The value of the Prelude had been reduced to a quarter of the original purchase price and yet I can still remember my Dad dutifully doing an “Oil & Grease” change on his car to extend the life of the car and keep its value up for resale. Most people would generally agree that repairing rather than replacing is generally a better option, but still we always to find for the quick fix, the get rich quick scheme and the instant gratification of purchase something to remove the problem, and this probably comes from having a lifestyle that is so fast that paying someone to fix a problem is the fastest option and often the path of least resistance. Is it just a vicious circle?
